Field note 06

What the search results look like during a launch

I have done this side of it too. Here is what is happening in Google right now, and why most of it disappears.

Search the product name today and you will find pages published within the last few hours — on document hosts, community platforms, press-release sites. Some of them rank at the top within three or four hours of going up.

I know how that is done, because I have done it. It is not a secret and it is not sophisticated. You post the same article on eight or nine high-authority platforms and let their crawl rate do the work.

Why most of it will be gone by the 24th

Because it is the same article. Open three of those pages and you will find the same opening sentence, word for word. That works for a few days on freshness, and then two things happen: platforms purge duplicate posting, and Google collapses near-identical results.

Which means the search results you see on closeout day — the biggest buying day of the launch — will look nothing like today's.

I mention this because it is useful to you as a buyer, not just to me. If a page about this product has no author, no dates, and reads like the other four you just opened, it was published this week by someone who has never used anything. That is most of what you will find.
